Jorhat, February 9, 2025 – The Salesian Province of Dimapur celebrated New Priests’ Day at the provincial level on February 8, 2025, at Rua Home, Jorhat, honoring nine newly ordained priests. The province welcomed these priests, who received the sacrament of Holy Orders between December and January 19, with a special gathering that highlighted their commitment to the faith.
The newly ordained priests include Fr. Amalraj SDB, Fr. Daikho Mathew, Fr. Binoy Kujur SDB, Fr. Zhopa Khamo Charles SDB, Fr. Wangsu George, Fr. Gregory Kerketa SDB, Fr. Eleajar Kujur SDB, Fr. Kapeo Timothy, and Fr. Binoy Toppo SDB. Six of them attended the celebration at Rua Home, where the Salesian community came together to express their gratitude and joy.
Fr. Wangsu George presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration, while Fr. Daikho Mathew delivered the homily, reflecting on the Markan understanding of discipleship. He emphasised the call to follow Christ with unwavering faith and dedication.
During the felicitation program, Fr. Binoy Kujur SDB shared his vocation story, inspiring attendees with his journey to the priesthood. Representing the newly ordained priests, Fr. Amalraj SDB expressed gratitude and delivered the vote of thanks.
Salesians from neighbouring communities in the Jorhat region participated in the event, thanking God for the blessing of new priests. Fr. Deli Kapani SDB, Vice Provincial of Dimapur, felicitated the priests on behalf of the Provincial and the province. The presence of Rt. Rev. Joseph Aind, Bishop Emeritus of Dibrugarh, along with Fr. Rajeesh SDB, Provincial Economer, and Fr. Kamil Horo SDB, the first rector of the newly ordained priests, added significance to the occasion.
The newly ordained priests extended their heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Philip SDB, Rector of Don Bosco Rua Home, and the community for their warm hospitality. The event marked a moment of joy and thanksgiving, celebrating God’s abundant blessings upon the Salesian Province of Dimapur.
