Jubilee Cross Veneration Continues in Baruipur Diocese with Devout Participation

Khari, West Bengal, February 10, 2025 – The veneration of the Jubilee Cross continues with great devotion in the Diocese of Baruipur, West Bengal, ever since the jubilee year was inaugurated by Most Rev. Shyamal Bose, Bishop of Baruipur Diocese. The sacred cross is currently housed at Ascension Church, Khari, where it will remain until February 20, 2025, before being solemnly handed over to the next parish in Morapai. Throughout its stay at Ascension Church, parishioners have gathered in large numbers to offer their reverence, participating in prayer services and special observances.

The Jubilee Cross embarked on its year-long pilgrimage across the diocese’s parishes, beginning on January 5, 2025, at the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Pancham Kahanda. It was venerated there for 14 days, drawing deep devotion from parishioners. On January 20, a solemn prayer service marked the conclusion of its stay before it travelled to Assumption Church, Baidyapur.

Following the established tradition, the Jubilee Cross moves every 14 days to a new parish, where it is honoured with prayer services and solemn gatherings. After its veneration at Assumption Church, Baidyapur, from January 21 to February 5, 2025, the cross arrived at Ascension Church, Khari, on February 6, 2025. It will remain there until February 20, 2025, before moving to the next parish in Morapai.

Each parish within the diocese of Baruipur has meticulously planned its Jubilee Year activities, ensuring a spiritually enriching experience for all believers. The Jubilee Cross pilgrimage serves as a profound symbol of faith and unity, drawing widespread participation and deep devotion among the faithful.
