Rectors of Minor and Propaedeutic Seminaries Discuss Missionary Formation in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, February 14, 2025— Rectors from Minor and Propaedeutic Seminaries gathered at St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, Bengaluru, to discuss missionary formation and challenges in seminary education. The meeting aimed to enhance formation programs in line with the vision of a synodal Church on a mission.  


Rev. Dr. Richard Britto, Rector of St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, welcomed the participants with a prayer. He emphasised the importance of preparing future missionaries through effective seminary formation.  


The keynote address on “Synodal Church on Mission: Missionary Formation in the Minor and Propaedeutic Seminaries” highlighted the evolving role of seminaries in shaping missionary-minded clergy.  


Rev. Dr. Jude Nirmal Doss, Vice-Rector, led a session on formation and studies, identifying key areas for improvement to strengthen seminarian training. The rectors then shared insights into current formation programs and discussed challenges in forming minor seminarians, addressing spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral concerns.  


The meeting concluded with a discussion on planning the next gathering of Minor Seminary Rectors, ensuring ongoing collaboration in enhancing seminary education. This gathering reaffirmed the commitment of seminary leaders to equip future priests with the skills and spiritual foundation needed for missionary service.
