Orientation Program for Parish Coordinators and Media Mentors Held at Udupi

Udupi, February 14, 2025: The Diocese of Udupi conducted an orientation program for Parish Coordinators and Media Mentors at Anugraha Pastoral Centre, Udupi. The program aimed to familiarise participants with the Diocesan Pastoral Plan 2030, the Catholic Connect App, and the World of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The session, attended by 42 coordinators, commenced with an audiovisual prayer song, invoking the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Rev. Fr. Denis D'Sa, Director of the Commission for Social Communications, welcomed the dignitaries, including Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of the Diocese of Udupi.

Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo provided an overview of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan 2030, elaborating on its mission, vision, goals, and objectives. He reassured the parish coordinators that they need not feel overwhelmed by the plan but rather take one step at a time in implementing it effectively.

Rev. Fr. Anil Fernandes, Director of Canara Communications Centre, Mangalore, conducted a practical session on the Catholic Connect App, guiding participants through its features and demonstrating how it helps users stay connected with the Church.

Fr. Anil Fernandes also introduced the attendees to the World of Artificial Intelligence (AI), emphasising the importance of the Church keeping pace with the rapidly progressing secular world. He encouraged participants to familiarise themselves with AI to remain relevant and effective in their ministry.

The session concluded with a Q&A session, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Fr. Denis D'Sa. The orientation program served as an informative and inspiring session, equipping parish coordinators and media mentors with the necessary knowledge and tools to enhance communication and evangelisation efforts within the diocese.
