Pope Francis Undergoes Treatment for Respiratory Infection at Gemelli Hospital

Vatican City, February 15, 2025: Pope Francis underwent medical examinations at Rome's Agostino Gemelli Hospital on Friday, February 14, and has started pharmacological treatment for a respiratory tract infection, a statement released by the Holy See Press Office on Friday said. The statement mentioned that the clinical condition of the pontiff remains stable, though he suffers from a mild fever.

Pope Francis was admitted to the hospital late Friday morning to undergo treatment for his worsening bronchitis. Due to his hospitalisation, several jubilee events that he was scheduled to preside over have been either adjusted or cancelled.

"The Jubilee Audience scheduled for February 15 has been cancelled. The Holy Mass for the Jubilee of Artists and the World of Culture, set to take place on Sunday, February 16, will be presided over by His Eminence Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education.”. “Furthermore, the meeting with artists, originally planned for Monday at Cinecittà, will not take place due to the Pope’s inability to attend," the Press Office statement added.
