Leadership Training Programme for Women Launched in Hazaribagh

Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, Feb. 11, 2026: The CCBI Commission for Women in Hazaribagh inaugurated a three-day Leadership Training Programme on Tuesday, aimed at equipping women with skills and confidence to assume greater leadership roles within the Church.

The initiative, aligned with the Church’s Pastoral Plan 2033, seeks to form and strengthen women leaders at various levels of ecclesial life. The programme began with a Eucharistic celebration, setting a spiritual tone for the days ahead.

In his inaugural address, Fr. Anthony K.J., Vicar General of the Diocese of Hazaribagh, highlighted the pressing need for women’s leadership in the Church. He noted that women often remain on the margins for a variety of social and structural reasons and called on participants to overcome these barriers through empowerment, deeper communion with the Church, and committed service. “The Church needs women who can lead with conviction and faith,” he said, encouraging them to bear fruit through active involvement in parish and community life.

The training sessions focus on developing self-awareness, strengthening teamwork and collaboration, and promoting the active participation of women in leadership. Special emphasis is being placed on the role of women as mothers and primary nurturers of faith within families.

Guided by the theme “Woman: The Life-Giver,” the first day featured theological reflections on the dignity and vocation of women. Resource person Sr. Lidwin Fernandes, UFS, underscored that women are equal and indispensable partners in God’s ongoing work of creation. She reflected on the unique gift of motherhood and the sacred responsibility of nurturing life from its earliest stages.

Sr. Lidwin also emphasised that both parents share responsibility for a child’s holistic growth and faith formation, encouraging participants to instil moral and spiritual values from the very beginning of life.

Participants described the programme as enriching and transformative. Ms. Jacinta Aind from Gomia said the sessions helped her understand how to apply the Word of God in daily life, adding that such guidance earlier in life would have significantly shaped her journey. Ms. Aphrincia Thithio expressed her resolve to practise what she had learned within her own family and extend it to other families in her parish.

The programme will continue over the next two days, with participants expressing enthusiasm to deepen their learning and contribute to building faith-filled and morally strong families and communities.
