Diphu, Assam, Feb. 11, 2026: Catholics from eight churches across Karbi Anglong district gathered for three days of prayer, dialogue and fellowship during the 8th Karbi Catholic Convention held from February 6 to 8 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Holy Family Parish, Japrajan.
The annual convention brought together clergy and faithful in what organisers described as a significant ecclesial moment for the region. Hosted in Diphu, the gathering served as a common platform for participants from different church communities to reflect on shared concerns and deepen inter-church collaboration.
Over the course of the three-day programme, attendees participated in structured prayer sessions, workshops and thematic talks focusing on issues and pastoral realities facing the local Catholic community. The sessions encouraged dialogue, attentive listening and active involvement, creating space for participants to share experiences and perspectives from their respective parishes.
Organisers noted that the convention aimed not only at spiritual renewal but also at strengthening bonds among the participating churches. Through discussions and collective reflection, the gathering fostered a renewed sense of shared responsibility within the wider Church in Karbi Anglong.
Liturgical celebrations formed the spiritual heart of the convention, grounding deliberations in communal worship. The concluding Mass on February 8 was celebrated by Fr. Justin Kurian and Fr. Joy Chavelli, Parish Priest of Holy Family Church, marking the culmination of the event.
As the convention drew to a close, participants expressed a strong sense of unity and commitment to continued collaboration among parishes. The shared experience of prayer, reflection and celebration underscored their resolve to work together in strengthening the Church’s mission in the region.
