Hyderabad, November 5, 2024: Priests and religious from the Diocese of Khammam convened in Muthangi, Hyderabad for their annual retreat on November 4 to plan and prepare for the upcoming Jubilee 2025 celebrations. Led by Bishop Prakash Sagili of Khammam, the gathering focused on fostering a spirit of renewal, unity and synodality as the diocese embarks on this significant occasion. Key discussions included an overview of the Synod for a Synodal Church's Final Document and the Jubilee 2025 themes, providing a framework for both spiritual and community engagement.
In his address, Bishop Sagili emphasized the importance of Jubilee 2025 as a moment for both universal and local renewal, resonating with the themes of unity across the global Catholic community. Fr. Srikanth Marsakatla reinforced this vision, while Msgr. Showry Thappeta, during a pivotal planning session, affirmed the diocese’s commitment to implementing the outlined proposals. "The Diocese of Khammam readily implements the proposals," he stated, underscoring the dedication of the clergy and religious leaders to advance these initiatives.
A highlight of the retreat was the presentation by the CCBI Jubilee 2025 National Team, led by Rev. Prof. Dr. Yesu Karunanidhi. As part of the Jubilee Yātra, Dr. Karunanidhi introduced the Pastoral Plan 2033, updates from Pontifical Mission Organizations India, Communio’s latest initiatives and the launch of the Catholic Connect App. These resources are designed to enhance diocesan missionary efforts and build stronger community connections well beyond the Jubilee year.
The retreat, coordinated by Rev. Fr. Joaness Gunda, Chancellor of the Diocese and the Diocesan Contact Person for Jubilee 2025, was sponsored by Communio. The dedication demonstrated by the Diocese of Khammam signifies a clear commitment to embracing the path of unity and renewal as they prepare to journey through the Jubilee 2025 and beyond.
