Vatican, November 6, 2024: His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Rino Fisichella, the Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization on October 28, unveiled "Luce," the official mascot for the Jubilee Year 2025. Luce ('Light' in English) represents hope, joy and unity, inviting the faithful to walk together in faith and be witnesses to the Light of Christ. The vibrant mascot, with its symbolism of light amidst darkness, aims to inspire people to embody love, compassion and solidarity as they journey towards the Jubilee.
Luce, designed by Simone Legno, features striking blue hair and a yellow rain jacket, colors reminiscent of the Vatican City flag, symbolizing the journey through life’s challenges. She holds a pilgrim's staff, symbolizing the pilgrimage toward eternity and wears mud-stained boots to represent a long and difficult spiritual journey. Her eyes, adorned with highlights shaped like a scallop shell, symbolize hope and faith, while the rosary around her neck reflects Catholic tradition. Simone Legno, Luce's designer, said that he hoped "Luce can represent the sentiments that resonate in the hearts of the younger generations".
Let Luce be a beacon of light and guide all closer to God’s unending grace.
