Bhadravathi, Karnataka, Jan 29, 2026: The celebration of Bible Sunday at Our Lady of Vailankanni Church, Bhadravathi, centred on a strong call for Catholics to deepen their relationship with God through regular reading and reflection on Sacred Scripture.
During the solemn Eucharistic celebration, Fr Steevan D’Sa emphasised that the Word of God is fundamental to Christian life and essential for knowing Jesus more intimately. In his homily, he urged the faithful to make the Bible a daily companion, allowing Scripture to guide personal faith, family life and Christian witness.
Reflections during the liturgy underlined that the Bible is not merely a book to be read, but the living Word that shapes the Church and nourishes believers in their journey of faith. The active participation of parishioners highlighted the shared responsibility of the community to listen to, proclaim and live God’s Word.
The celebration also drew attention to the mission of bringing Scripture into everyday life, encouraging families and parish groups to grow in prayerful engagement with the Bible.
The observance of Bible Sunday served as a renewed invitation for the faithful to rediscover the power of the Word of God and to translate it into concrete actions of faith, love and service in daily life.
