Jabalpur Christians Call for Unity Rooted in Shared Faith and Hope

Jabalpur, Jan 28, 2026: A renewed call for Christian unity, grounded in common faith and shared hope, marked the conclusion of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in the Diocese of Jabalpur.

Centred on the biblical theme, “There is one body and one spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling” (Ephesians 4:4), the week-long observance invited Christians to move beyond denominational boundaries and recognise their collective identity in Christ.

Joint prayer services were held in different churches across the city, bringing together members of the Catholic Church, the Church of North India, the Methodist Church and other Christian communities. The gatherings emphasised fellowship, mutual respect and the responsibility of Christians to bear united witness in society.

The concluding service at Holy Trinity Church highlighted the spirit of ecumenical cooperation that marked the entire octave. Church leaders underscored that unity is not achieved through structural sameness, but through shared prayer, dialogue and commitment to the Gospel. The presence of bishops, clergy and lay faithful from various traditions reflected growing trust and collaboration among the churches.

Participants were encouraged to continue nurturing relationships built during the week and to translate prayer into concrete acts of cooperation, service and common mission.

The observance reaffirmed that despite diversity in traditions and practices, Christians in Jabalpur remain united by one baptism, one calling and one hope in Christ, strengthening their resolve to journey together as one body and one spirit.
