Mumbai, Jan 28, 2025: Expressing deep sorrow, Archbishop John Rodrigues of the Archdiocese of Bombay mourned the tragic passing of the Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Ajit Pawar, who died in an aircraft crash at Baramati on January 28, 2026.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the Archdiocese of Bombay, Archbishop Rodrigues conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Government of Maharashtra, stating that the news of Mr. Pawar’s untimely death had plunged the entire state into grief and shock.
Describing Mr. Pawar as a dedicated public servant, the Archbishop noted that his unwavering commitment to the welfare of Maharashtra and its people had touched countless lives. He said Mr. Pawar’s leadership, vision, and tireless efforts towards fostering development and unity would be remembered with deep respect and admiration.
The Archdiocese offered prayers for the departed leader and sought strength, solace, and peace for Mr. Pawar’s family, friends, colleagues, and all those mourning the loss. The statement also affirmed the Archdiocese’s solidarity with the people of Maharashtra during this time of immense loss.
