Buxar, Bihar, August 20, 2025: The Diocese of Buxar hosted the Yuva Sammelan 2025 from 15 to 17 August as part of its Jubilee Year celebrations. The three-day event, coordinated by Youth Director Fr. Susai Raj with the support of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), brought together young people for prayer, learning, and fellowship.
The Sammelan opened on the evening of 15 August with registration and an inaugural ceremony led by Bishop James Shekher of Buxar. Three keynote speakers – Miss Shilpa Ekka, CCBI Executive Member and Advisory Body representative of CCBI India; Fr. Antony Prakash SJ, AICUF State Advisor for Bihar-UP; and Fr. Pascal Anand, Director of the Bihar Region – addressed the youth. Their sessions encouraged participants to grow as responsible leaders for both Church and society, while cultivating values of integrity and service.
The following day, 16 August, carried a spirit of joy and renewal. A Jubilee procession set the tone, followed by adoration and the sacrament of reconciliation, giving young people the opportunity to encounter peace and forgiveness. The evening concluded with a lively cultural programme, celebrating unity and creativity through music, dance, and performance.
On the final day, 17 August, participants gathered for a solemn Eucharistic celebration, presided over by Bishop Shekher and concelebrated with the Parish Priest of Buxar and other diocesan clergy. This Mass provided a fitting close to the Sammelan, offering thanksgiving and renewing the commitment of the youth to live out their faith with passion and responsibility.
Reflecting on the event, many described it as a grace-filled encounter that combined spiritual nourishment with leadership guidance and joyful fellowship. The dedication of organisers and volunteers ensured its smooth execution, leaving participants enriched and motivated to serve both Church and society with renewed zeal.
The Diocese expressed deep gratitude to Bishop James Shekher for his constant guidance and encouragement, and to the priests who supported the event spiritually. Special thanks were extended to the keynote speakers – Miss Shilpa Ekka, Fr. Antony Prakash SJ, and Fr. Pascal Anand – for their inspiring contributions.
The efforts of Fr. Susai Raj, whose vision and leadership shaped the Sammelan, were also recognised, along with the commitment of coordinators, animators, and volunteers. Sponsors, well-wishers, and benefactors received appreciation for their generosity, while above all, thanksgiving was offered to God for His blessings, which made the Yuva Sammelan 2025 a memorable and transformative celebration.
