Karwar, December 1, 2025: Two new Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) units have been established in the Diocese of Karwar at Mary Mother of God Church, Kodani, and Holy Cross Chapel, Bellimakki, marking a significant step in strengthening children’s missionary formation.
A training session was held at SFS School, Kodani, where 36 children participated in sessions introducing them to the mission, values, and responsibilities of the MCA. The session was led by Fr. Stewart Fernandes, Secretary of the Diocesan Proclamation and Evangelization Commission.
The inauguration of the MCA units took place during the Holy Eucharist celebrated first at Kodani Church and later at Bellimakki Chapel. In both locations, the new MCA units were formally established through the symbolic lighting of candles, expressing the call to missionary zeal. The Kodani unit consists of 25 children, while the Bellimakki unit includes 12 children.
Parish priest Fr. John Abel D’Souza extended gratitude to Fr. Stewart for his dedicated service, while a large number of lay faithful, along with Dn. Rohan Fernandes, participated in the celebration. The Diocesan Proclamation and Evangelization Commission expressed prayerful hopes that the newly formed units grow into vibrant young missionary groups.
