“The Mother of the Faithful People” Released

Penang, Malaysia 1 December 2025: The CCBI released Mater Populi Fidelis (The Mother of the Faithful People), a Doctrinal Note on Marian titles linked to Mary’s cooperation in the work of salvation, on 1 Dec 2025 in Penang, Malaysia. Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão handed the first copy to Cardinal Sebastian Francis, Archbishop of Penang, Malaysia.

Mater Populi Fidelis is the result of a long and careful joint effort. The document offers a clear teaching on Marian devotion, presenting Mary as the Mother of believers who shares in Christ’s saving mission. It draws its strength from Scripture and brings together insights from the Fathers and Doctors of the Church, the Eastern Christian tradition, and the reflections of recent Popes. It serves as a helpful guide for deepening devotion to Mary in the life of the Church today.
