SIGNIS India Expresses Solidarity with Flood-Hit Nepal

Mangaluru, August 26, 2026: SIGNIS India has expressed solidarity with the people of Nepal following devastating flash floods that have claimed lives, left hundreds missing and caused extensive damage across affected communities.

In a message issued on August 26, Fr Victor Vijay Lobo, president of SIGNIS India, assured the people of Nepal of the organisation’s prayers and support as rescue and relief operations continued.

The floods have damaged homes, roads and other infrastructure and disrupted livelihoods, forcing families to leave their homes and leaving several communities struggling to access essential services.

SIGNIS India conveyed condolences to families who lost loved ones and offered prayers for those who remain missing, displaced or stranded. It also remembered rescue personnel, volunteers and humanitarian workers involved in efforts to reach affected areas and assist survivors.

“May God grant eternal rest to those who have lost their lives, consolation and strength to their families, and hope and courage to all those facing the aftermath of this disaster,” the message said.

The organisation commended Nepalese authorities, rescue teams, security personnel, volunteers and humanitarian agencies involved in search, rescue and relief operations. It also acknowledged assistance being provided by India and other agencies and called for continued international support for Nepal’s humanitarian needs.

SIGNIS India appealed for humanitarian assistance, medical supplies and essential relief materials, particularly for people displaced by the floods or cut off from vital services.

It also urged its members and partners to support relief efforts through prayer, humanitarian assistance, verified information-sharing and other forms of practical support.

“Our thoughts, prayers and solidarity remain with the people of Nepal at this painful hour,” Lobo said.
