New Delhi, August 26, 2026: The Department of Posts has announced a fresh recruitment drive for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) posts under the GDS Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026.
Applications are being invited for vacant positions of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak across different postal circles and divisions in India.
According to Notification No. 17-12/2026-GDS dated 20 August 2026, eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official GDS Online Engagement Portal.
The one-time online registration process will begin on 31 August 2026 and continue until 19 September 2026, 5.00 pm. Candidates can submit their online applications and complete fee payments from 2 September to 21 September 2026, 5.00 pm.
A two-day correction window will be available from 23 September to 24 September 2026, allowing candidates to correct eligible details in their registration and application forms.
Applicants must have passed the 10th standard Secondary School Examination from a recognised board, with passing marks in Mathematics and English. Candidates must also have studied the prescribed local language at least up to the 10th standard.
The minimum age is 18 years, while the maximum age is 40 years, subject to applicable age relaxations for eligible reserved categories.
Candidates are also required to have knowledge of computers, knowledge of cycling and adequate means of livelihood.
The selection process will be based on a system-generated merit list, prepared primarily from marks obtained in the Class 10 Secondary School Examination. No written examination is mentioned in the notification.
Candidates should carefully ensure that all personal and educational details match their Class 10 records, as discrepancies may result in cancellation of candidature.
GDS employees receive Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA). The initial TRCA slab for BPM posts ranges from Rs 12,000 to Rs 29,380, while ABPM and Dak Sevak posts range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 24,470.
Interested candidates are advised to read the complete notification carefully and apply only through the official GDS Online Engagement Portal within the prescribed deadline.
