Religious in Khandwa Explore AI and Digital Tools for Mission and Communication

KHANDWA, August 25, 2026: About 50 Religious Sisters, Priests and Brothers from different congregations participated in a one-day seminar on Artificial Intelligence and digital content creation organised by the Conference of Religious India, Khandwa Unit, at the Khandwa Pastoral Centre on August 23.

The seminar focused on equipping members of religious communities with practical knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and digital media for communication, pastoral ministry, education and missionary outreach.

Anthony Swamy, Programme Coordinator of the Radio Veritas Asia Hindi Service, served as the resource person. The programme began with a spiritual reflection by Lucia, President of the Conference of Religious India Khandwa Unit, who encouraged participants to engage with emerging technologies responsibly and use them in the service of the Church and society.

Pancratius, Vice-President of the Conference of Religious India Khandwa Unit, welcomed Swamy and introduced him to the participants.

The first session dealt with the responsible management of digital accounts and information. Swamy explained the differences between personal, confidential and Artificial Intelligence-related accounts and data, while introducing participants to the basic functioning of AI.

He also demonstrated how certain AI tools can be customised and used according to individual needs. Participants were introduced to several AI platforms and shown ways of accessing advanced tools and features through available free options and educational resources.

The second session focused on practical applications. Demonstrations covered AI-assisted image generation, graphic design, text-to-speech, voice creation, video production and presentation development.

The participants explored how these tools could be incorporated into communication ministries, educational initiatives, pastoral activities and missionary outreach while maintaining responsible and creative use of technology.

The hands-on sessions generated considerable interest among the participants, who actively engaged with the demonstrations and explored ways of integrating AI into their ministries.

The seminar highlighted the growing importance of digital literacy and AI awareness among religious communities as technology continues to influence communication and evangelisation. The initiative encouraged participants to approach emerging technologies with knowledge, creativity and responsibility and to explore their potential to support the Church’s mission in the digital age.
