Archdiocese of Goa and Daman Releases Directory for 2026–2027

GOA, August 24, 2026: Archbishop-Patriarch Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão and Auxiliary Bishop Simião Fernandes released the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman Directory 2026–2027 at the Archbishop’s House, Panjim, on August 23.

The annual publication is designed to help the faithful access information about parishes, Church institutions and services across the Archdiocese and the Mission of Daman.

The release was attended by Fr. Barry Cardozo, Director of the Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media, Sr Rita Frois HC, and Communications Centre staff members Janet Barcellos and Romualdo Fernandes.

Congratulating the Communications Centre team on the publication, Cardinal Ferrão expressed the hope that the Directory would reach as many faithful as possible and enable them to access essential contact details of churches and Catholic institutions throughout the Archdiocese.

Linking the publication to the theme of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Year 2026–2027, “Abide in Me,” Cardinal Ferrão said the Directory could provide resources that help people deepen their relationship with the Church and, ultimately, “abide in Christ.”

Bishop Simião Fernandes described the Directory as a useful means of maintaining connections within the Church community and supporting the journey of synodality towards a shared mission.

Fr. Cardozo thanked Cardinal Ferrão and Bishop Fernandes for their guidance and support in preparing the publication. He also acknowledged the assistance of Fr. Joaquim Loiola Pereira, Secratary to the Archbishop and Fr. Romeo Monteiro, Chancellor of the Archdiocese in editing the Directory, along with contributions from the clergy, New Age Printers and Communications Centre staff.

Reflecting on Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, Fr. Cardozo described the Directory as both a sourcebook and a practical resource for strengthening human encounters, supporting young people and families, and reaching out to vulnerable sections of society through the institutional resources listed in the publication.

He expressed hope that the Directory would contribute to building “a communion of communities” and enable the Church to bear witness to human dignity and the value of every person.

The Directory provides detailed information about the Church in Goa and the Mission of Daman, covering the Union Territories of Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Diu. It includes information on parishes, religious institutes of men and women, educational institutions, technical schools and various social and pastoral services provided by the Archdiocese.

A second volume containing historical information on churches in Goa is expected to be published subsequently.

The Directory 2026–2027 will be available from next week at the Lighthouse in Margao, Pauline Book and Media Centres in Panjim and Mapusa, St Pius X Pastoral Institute in Old Goa, Archbishop’s House in Altinho, Panjim, and selected parishes across Goa.
