Indian Army Opens Applications for SSC (Tech) 66 Men Entry

India, August 21, 2025: The Indian Army has invited online applications from engineering graduates for the 66th Short Service Commission (Technical) Men Course, set to commence in April 2026. The entry is open exclusively to unmarried male candidates holding an engineering degree in notified streams, including those in their final year of study.

Applicants must be aged between 20 and 27 years as on 1 April 2026. The application window runs from 24 July to 22 August 2025, and candidates can apply only through the official portal at joinindianarmy.nic.in.


The selection process involves application screening, shortlisting, Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews, medical examinations, and preparation of a merit list before issue of joining letters. The cut-off percentage of marks for shortlisting will be published in the first week of September 2025. Five-day SSB interviews are scheduled between October and December 2025, with candidates choosing from available dates in September 2025.


Successful applicants will undergo training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gaya, Bihar, beginning in April 2026. The training will run for 49 weeks, concluding in March 2027. During this period, candidates will receive a stipend of ₹56,100 per month.


On commissioning, candidates will be appointed as Lieutenants with a cost-to-company salary package of approximately ₹17 to 18 lakh per annum. This excludes free medical cover and an annual travel allowance for one trip home.


The type of commission offered is Short Service Commission, with a minimum engagement period of 10 years and a maximum of 14 years. Officers may opt for release after 5, 10, or 14 years, with the possibility of permanent commission after 10 years of service.


Candidates will be commissioned primarily into the Corps of Engineers, Corps of Signals, and Electronics and Mechanical Engineers. However, they may also be placed in other arms and services as required.


The Indian Army notes that release benefits will depend on the terms of service at the time of release.
