ERNAKULAM, Kerala, July 1, 2026: A seminar examining the implications of the Central Government's proposed Labour Codes on workers' rights, social security, job security, and trade union activities will be held in Ernakulam on July 5.
The programme, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the ESSS Auditorium on Providence Road, aims to bring together trade union leaders and labour activists to discuss the potential impact of the proposed legislation on the Indian workforce and explore strategies for safeguarding workers' interests.
According to the organisers, the seminar will focus on key provisions of the Labour Codes and deliberate on the challenges they pose to labour rights, collective bargaining, and trade union functioning. Participants are also expected to discuss possible responses by labour movements to the proposed reforms.
The seminar will feature addresses by several prominent trade union leaders, including former Member of Parliament and former HMS National President Thampan Thomas, former BMS National President Saji Narayanan, and CITU State Secretary K. N. Gopinath.
