Climate Change Awareness Seminar Held at Dharshan Institute of Theology, Bangalore

Bangalore, Nov 18, 2025: A seminar on 'Raising Hope for Climate Change' was organised by the Holy Trinity Province of Karnataka in collaboration with the Commission for Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) at Dharshan Institute of Theology, Bangalore.


The seminar brought together friars, brothers, and sisters from neighbouring communities, with Fr. Robin Victor D’Souza, the president of the institute, also in attendance as participants discussed the urgent issue of climate change. In his keynote address, Fr. Augustine Lourdu, OFM, emphasised the spiritual aspect of protecting the environment, highlighting humanity's role as stewards of God's creation.


Speakers at the seminar shed light on the human impact of climate change, including displacement, unemployment, and struggles to make ends meet. Bargavi Rao, Climate Justice and Community Action Leader, highlighted the plowshare of common people in the face of development projects, while Jeeth Milan Roche, Environmentalist and Social Entrepreneur, shared concrete action plans to save the environment, including tree-planting initiatives.


The seminar concluded with group discussions, where participants brainstormed personal actions to protect the environment and instill hope for climate change. Fr. Naveen D'Souza, Rector of Deena Seva Ashram, expressed gratitude to participants and speakers, emphasizing the importance of collective action.
