SECUNDERABAD, August 19, 2026: Strengthening the implementation of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CCBI) National Pastoral Plan was the focus of a seminar held for 63 pastoral leaders from the Telugu Region on August 19 at the HASSS Office, S.D. Road, Secunderabad.
Organised by the CCBI Pastoral Plan Implementation Committee, the seminar brought together diocesan commission coordinators and regional commission secretaries from across the Telugu Region. Bishop Gerald Lobo, chairman of the CCBI Pastoral Plan Implementation Committee and Bishop of Udupi, animated the programme. Cardinal Poola Anthony was unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances.
Held under the theme “From Mandate to Mission: The Church’s Call for the Pastoral Plan,” the seminar focused on the vision and process of the CCBI Pastoral Plan, with particular attention to Jesus’ plan for mission. Participants reflected on how the pastoral mandate could be translated into concrete and effective action at the diocesan, regional and parish levels.
The diocesan coordinators and regional secretaries shared their experiences of implementing the Pastoral Plan in their respective dioceses and commissions. Their presentations highlighted both progress and challenges, providing opportunities for discussion, mutual learning and reflection.
The seminar stressed the need for stronger coordination, sustained commitment, systematic follow-up and effective implementation of the National Pastoral Plan throughout the Telugu Region. It also sought to promote collaboration and shared responsibility in advancing the Church’s pastoral mission.
Bishop Lobo led the entire programme, explaining the implementation processes in a simple and practical manner. Fr. Raju Alex, Deputy Secretary of the Telugu Catholic Bishops’ Conference, expressed appreciation for his contribution and thanked the participants for their active involvement.
