Annual Gathering of the Women Commission Brings Together 550 Delegates in Bhopal

Bhopal, Nov 28, 2025: Bringing together nearly 550 women representatives from parishes across Bhopal, along with priests, religious sisters, and invited dignitaries, the Women Commission of the Archdiocese organised its Annual Gathering on 23 November 2025 at St. Joseph’s Co-Ed School.

Offering a meaningful health-education dimension to the day, the Cancer Awareness session conducted by Dr. Sarita Agarwal and Dr. Jaya Rai provided important insights to the participants.

A solemn High Mass was presided over by Archbishop Durairaj SVD of Bhopal and concelebrated by nearly ten priests, including the Vicar General, Fr. Ishwardas Minj, setting a prayerful and inspiring tone for the gathering. In his address, Archbishop Durairaj expressed profound appreciation for the initiatives of the Women Commission in empowering women and strengthening parish communities.

The gathering heard a series of addresses delivered by Ms. Rosemary Sahayam, Regional Secretary, together with Ms. Binsy George, President of the Women Commission of the Archdiocese of Bhopal, and Special Guest Ms. Rajpal Kaur, Additional Director of the Women & Child Development Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. After the speeches, parish groups from Harda, Bhopal, and Ashta presented cultural performances that infused the event with colour and energy.

The programme further honoured 19 exemplary women leaders of the Archdiocese for their valuable contributions to the Church and society, along with the outgoing executive members of the Commission for their dedicated service, and concluded this segment with the distribution of prizes for various competitions held across the year, including quiz, dance, and drama.
