Youth Sunday Celebrated by Women’s Commission in Jaipur

Jaipur, August 24, 2025: The Women’s Commission of the Diocese of Jaipur, in collaboration with the Youth Commission, celebrated Youth Sunday on 13 August at Gyandeep Bhavan with great joy and spiritual fervour. The occasion highlighted the vital role of young people in the life of the Church while affirming them through prayer, encouragement, and recognition.

The day began with a special Eucharistic Celebration, animated entirely by the youth, who took active roles as readers, choir members, and altar servers. The Mass was presided over by Fr. Vineet Vincent Pareira from the Diocese of Varanasi. In his homily, he urged the young faithful to be “the salt and light of the world.”

A moving moment came when the women of the diocese were invited to raise their hands in blessing over the youth. The symbolic gesture, rich in emotion and spirituality, reflected intergenerational support, love, and unity, leaving a deep impression on all present.

Following Mass, the programme opened with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising wisdom, hope, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This was followed by a session on Cyber Safety and Digital Responsibility, organised by the Women’s Commission in recognition of the challenges faced by youth in the digital era. Cyber security experts Mr. Arijit Nandy and Mr. Sachin Singhal led the session, which was introduced by Ms. Neelam Chopra and Fr. Jijo with the presentation of a sapling—symbolising growth and gratitude.

The interactive session addressed crucial issues such as online safety, responsible social media use, and cyberbullying. Youth participants engaged enthusiastically, sharing personal experiences and posing thoughtful questions, which made the discussion both practical and impactful.

Another highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of young people who had made notable contributions to the community. The Women’s Commission honoured them in a brief yet meaningful ceremony, presenting Certificates of Appreciation as tokens of encouragement. The awards were conferred by Fr. Jaypal, Fr. Melven Jobard, and Fr. Jijo in the presence of Commission President Ms. Neelam Chopra. The gesture was warmly received by the youth and added to the spirit of affirmation and celebration.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Collin Richard Blunt, Diocesan Youth President, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, volunteers, Women’s Commission, and all supporters of the celebration.

The Women’s Commission, under the leadership of Ms. Chopra, expressed pride in having provided a platform that both recognised and empowered the diocese’s youth. “The event was a step forward in building a Church where young people feel valued, supported, and spiritually nourished,” Ms. Chopra affirmed.
