UDAAN 2K25: Soaring on the Wings of Faith in Jaipur

Jaipur, August 24, 2025: “You are the pillars of the Church.” These words of Bishop Joseph Kallarackal continue to resonate with the youth of the Jaipur Diocese. A vibrant and spirit-filled generation, regarded as the heart of the Church, came together at Gyandeep Pastoral Centre for UDAAN 2K25, a four-day youth camp organised by ICYM Jaipur Dexco.

The gathering, held from 14 to 17 August, drew more than 150 young people from across the diocese. Rooted in prayer, fellowship, learning and celebration, the camp aimed to inspire participants to “soar on the wings of faith” and mark a milestone in their spiritual journey.

The camp opened on 14 August with an inaugural Mass celebrated by Bishop Emeritus Oswald J. Lewis of Jaipur. He delivered an insightful homily and lit the ceremonial lamp to declare the event open. The day’s first activity featured parish-level competitions on a biblical theme, where youth performed graceful dances and presented original Gospel songs, setting a creative and lively atmosphere.

The second day welcomed Bishop Joseph Kallarackal, who celebrated Mass and offered words of encouragement before joining the youth for a group photograph. The day’s sessions were led by resource person Mr Yousuf Massey, who guided participants through engaging reflections on Christian identity. The Dexco later organised a You-Lead workshop, followed by a spirited treasure hunt. The evening closed with Adoration and “Musical Notes”, a jugalbandi-style celebration of music by different groups.

On the third day, after Mass, Mr. Massey continued his sessions aimed at nurturing faith and fellowship. The afternoon featured a Bible quiz that encouraged both learning and healthy competition, followed by energetic sports events including basketball and dodgeball. A solemn rosary procession in the evening was balanced by a lively DJ night, where the youth rejoiced in dance and camaraderie.

The camp concluded on 17 August with the celebration of National Youth Sunday. Fr. Jijo Varghese, DYD of Jaipur, addressed the gathering in a special session titled DYD Speaks, sharing his reflections with the participants. The day also included a prize distribution ceremony and a final Adoration led by Dexco, before Fr. Varghese imparted the concluding blessings.

More than a camp, UDAAN 2K25 emerged as a flight of faith, unity and inspiration—a launchpad for dreams and a reminder that in God’s love, the sky is not the limit but the beginning of greater heights.
