“You’re Not Too Late”: Thousands of Catholics Are Still Joining This 153-Day Rosary Challenge for the Salvation of Souls

May 25, 2026: In a world filled with anxiety, confusion and spiritual exhaustion, a quiet but powerful movement is growing across the globe — and even though it began on 13 May, Catholics are being reminded that it is not too late to begin.

A Filipino-American priest has invited the faithful to take part in a remarkable 153-day Rosary challenge, and many are now discovering that this spiritual journey may be exactly what their hearts have been longing for.

A Global Call to Pray

Father James Cervantes, MIC, of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception, launched what is now being called the “153-Day Fátima Invitation”. The challenge began on the Feast of Our Lady of Fátima on 13 May and will continue until 13 October — the anniversary of the final apparition at Fátima in 1917.

The invitation is simple yet profound: pray the full traditional Rosary every day for the salvation of souls.

At first glance, some may feel discouraged that nearly two weeks of the challenge have already passed. But Father Cervantes’ message is clear — heaven is not counting perfection; heaven is calling for participation.

The important thing is to begin.

Why the Number 153 Matters

The number 153 carries deep biblical and Marian significance.

During the apparitions at Fátima, the traditional Rosary consisted of 153 Hail Marys across the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries. The apparitions themselves also spanned exactly 153 days — from 13 May to 13 October.

In the Gospel of John, after Christ’s Resurrection, the disciples caught 153 fish at Jesus’ command — symbolising the gathering of souls into the Church.

Father Cervantes believes this is no coincidence.

“It is a time of spiritual fishing,” he explained. “A time to cast the net for souls lost in the sea of sin and death.”

A Spiritual Answer for Troubled Times

The priest says this challenge comes at a critical moment for the world. Families are struggling, faith is weakening, and many people feel distant from God.

“Our Lady has already given us the remedy,” Father Cervantes said. “The answer is prayer, sacrifice and the holy Rosary.”

Far from being merely repetitive prayer, the Rosary has long been described by saints and popes as a spiritual weapon. From St Dominic to St Louis de Montfort, generations of Catholics have believed that the Rosary has the power to bring conversion, peace and healing.

And now, ordinary Catholics are being invited to become part of that mission once again.

It’s Not Too Late to Start

If you missed the beginning of the challenge, do not let that stop you. Spiritual journeys are not about perfect timing but faithful response.

Even starting today could change your prayer life, strengthen your family, and draw you closer to Christ through Our Lady.

In a noisy and distracted world, perhaps this is heaven’s gentle invitation to pause, pray and return to what truly matters.

The challenge continues until 13 October. The question is not whether you are late. The question is whether you are willing to answer the call.
