Archdiocese of Delhi Brings Young Catholics Together for Gospel Sharing Initiative

New Delhi, June 15, 2026: In a significant effort to nurture faith among the younger generation and strengthen the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) movement, the Archdiocese of Delhi organised a Children’s Gospel Sharing Workshop at the Archdiocesan Community Centre, Bishop’s House, on June 14.

The workshop, jointly organised by the CCBI National Council for Basic Ecclesial Communities and the Delhi Archdiocesan Commission for BECs, brought together students from Classes VIII to XII from various parishes across the archdiocese. Fifteen animators also participated, accompanying and guiding the young delegates throughout the day.

The programme commenced in a prayerful atmosphere with the enthronement of the Holy Bible, symbolising the centrality of God’s Word in the life of the Church. The solemn opening set the tone for a day dedicated to reflection, learning and faith formation.

The highlight of the workshop was a session on Gospel Sharing Methods conducted by Fr. George Jacob SAC, Executive Secretary, along with members of the National Council of the CCBI Commission for BECs. Through interactive discussions, practical demonstrations and group activities, participants were introduced to various ways of reflecting on and sharing the Gospel within small Christian communities and parish settings.

Additional sessions led by Fr. Suresh Babu, Director of the Archdiocesan Commission for BECs, and Mr. Emmanuel Johnson focused on helping the young participants deepen their relationship with Christ and encouraging them to play an active role in the life and mission of their parishes.

The workshop concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Vincent D’Souza, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Delhi. In his homily, he challenged the children and youth to become enthusiastic witnesses of the Gospel and active participants in the Basic Ecclesial Communities of their respective parishes.

The initiative provided a valuable platform for young Catholics from different parishes to pray, learn and interact with one another. Organisers noted that such programmes are essential for fostering a Gospel-centred way of life among children and youth while ensuring the continued growth and vitality of the BEC movement within the Archdiocese of Delhi.

By empowering young people to engage more deeply with Scripture and community life, the workshop reflected the Church’s commitment to forming future leaders rooted in faith, service and the values of the Gospel.
