Khandwa, March 8, 2026: Nearly 500 women gathered at St. Mary’s Church Hall in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, for a vibrant celebration of International Women’s Day organised by Navjeevan Children’s Home. Held under the theme “Empowered Women, Empowered Society,” the event highlighted the growing momentum of women’s solidarity and leadership in the region.
The programme brought together civic authorities, Church leaders, and community members in a shared commitment to promoting dignity and opportunities for women. Among the prominent guests were Additional Collector Srushti Deshmukh, City Magistrate Bajrang Bahadur Singh, Additional Commissioner Priya Meda, Women Police Station in-charge Sulochana, City Manager Shahid, and Ward Parshad Kadri. Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration between civil administration and community institutions in advancing women’s empowerment.
Church representatives also participated in the celebration, including Sr. Grace, Provincial; Sr. Jency, Vice Provincial; and Fr. John Victor, Vicar General of the Khandwa Diocese. Sisters from Nepanagar and members of the Gianellian community extended active support in organising the event and ensuring its smooth conduct.
The celebration began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising hope and enlightenment. The programme then unfolded with a series of cultural performances presented by participants, showcasing their creativity and talent. The lively performances added colour and enthusiasm to the gathering, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity.
Speakers at the event emphasised that the empowerment of women is central to the development of a just and progressive society. They encouraged women to recognise their inherent dignity and strength, participate confidently in social and civic life, and contribute actively to the well-being of their communities.
Throughout the programme, the theme “Empowered Women, Empowered Society” resonated strongly, reaffirming the conviction that meaningful social progress is closely linked to the advancement and leadership of women.
The strong turnout and enthusiastic participation reflected the ongoing commitment of Navjeevan Children’s Home to fostering equality, dignity, and opportunity for women. The celebration concluded with a renewed sense of encouragement and determination among participants to continue promoting empowerment at every level of society.
