Kalaburagi, Karnataka, Sept. 5, 2025: Mother of Divine Grace Cathedral, Kalaburagi, a parish under the Diocese of Gulbarga, hosted a series of liturgical instruction sessions from September 1 to 4 to prepare parishioners for the upcoming feast of the Nativity of Mother Mary; the programme was organised by parish priest Fr. Praveen Joseph and led by Fr. Vinay Kumar, Karnataka Regional Secretary for the Commission for Liturgy. The sessions conducted during the programme aimed to deepen the parishioners’ understanding of the liturgy and instil a spirit of active participation during Eucharistic celebrations among them.
Fr. Vinay Kumar conducted separate sessions for altar servers and parishioners. Addressing the altar servers, he highlighted the significance of their ministry, emphasising their vital role in facilitating the liturgy. In the session conducted for parishioners, he explained the structure of the Holy Mass and its significance.
Drawing from Sacrosanctum Concilium, the Second Vatican Council’s Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, he emphasised the Church's desire for active participation by the laity during Holy Eucharistic celebrations.
The four-day programme not only deepened the parish community’s understanding of the sacred rites but also renewed their commitment to participating fully and consciously in the Eucharist. As the parish prepares to celebrate the Nativity of Mother Mary, these sessions have fostered a stronger sense of devotion, ensuring that the feast will be marked with reverence and heartfelt involvement from the faithful.
