Pilerne, Goa, September 22, 2025 — The Sunday Catechetical School of St. John the Baptist Church, Pilerne, marked Vocation Sunday with a special visit to the Saligao–Pilerne Seminary, bringing catechism children closer to the heart of the Church’s mission.
The day opened with the Holy Mass celebrated in the seminary chapel by Parish Priest Fr. Derick Fernandes and animated by the catechists. The celebration fostered a spirit of prayer and reflection, reminding all gathered of the vital role vocations play in the life of the Church.
Following Mass, the seminary community hosted a lively programme designed especially for the children. Two action songs set a joyful tone, filling the space with energy and enthusiasm. An interactive game soon followed, encouraging teamwork and participation among the young ones.
The highlight of the morning was a skit depicting the vocation journey of Auxiliary Bishop Simão Purificação Fernandes. Through a thoughtful and moving portrayal, the performance illustrated his dedication and lifelong service to the Church. The story resonated deeply with the children, showing them how God often calls ordinary people to carry out extraordinary missions in His vineyard.
The visit proved both enriching and inspiring. By the end of the day, the children returned home with renewed faith, strengthened enthusiasm, and a clearer sense of the importance of discerning their own vocation.
This year’s Vocation Sunday celebration not only honoured the Church’s call to vocations but also gave the younger generation a chance to witness first-hand the joy and purpose of a life dedicated to God.
