Bhopal Archdiocese Marks Jubilee of Communicators Focusing on Gospel and Media

Bhopal, 22 September 2025: The Archdiocese of Bhopal marked a historic occasion when Navdeep Communications hosted the Jubilee of Communicators 2025 at the Pastoral Centre, Bhopal on September 21. The event, celebrated under the theme “Hope in a Digital World: Communicating Kingdom Values,” brought together priests, religious, lay faithful, and media professionals to reflect on, learn from, and celebrate the gift of communication as a tool for evangelisation and social transformation.

In his inaugural address, Fr. John PJ, Principal of BSSS College, Bhopal, emphasised that communicators are “pilgrims of hope,” entrusted with spreading truth, compassion, and justice in today’s fast-changing digital world. The lamp-lighting ceremony symbolised the enlightenment communicators are called to bring into society.

Sessions of Inspiration and Learning

Fr. Alfred D’Souza addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of cyber awareness. Fr. Rayan SVD, serving as resource person, underlined the need for authentic communication rooted in Gospel values, reminding participants that every message holds the power to build or to diminish human dignity.

A much-anticipated session on Artificial Intelligence (AI), introduced by Fr. Thomas Anthony O Praem, explored how AI is reshaping communication and media. He cautioned against ethical pitfalls while encouraging its use as a supportive tool for evangelisation, catechesis, and social awareness. The interactive format enabled participants to raise questions, explore practical applications, and engage in group activities, broadening their understanding of responsible AI use.

A hands-on AI workshop allowed participants to experiment with digital strategies, media innovations, and practical tools for communicating the Gospel effectively in the digital age. Young communicators and experienced leaders collaborated with enthusiasm, sharing knowledge and ideas.

Spiritual Core of the Jubilee

The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Archbishop Sebastin Durairaj SVD of Bhopal. In his homily, he reminded the faithful that the Church’s mission is not only to evangelise but also to humanise the digital space by witnessing Christ through words, images, and actions.

A Renewal of Mission

The Jubilee of Communicators 2025 was more than a commemoration; it was a renewal of mission. It affirmed the Church’s responsibility to guide the faithful in using media wisely, fostering critical thinking, and promoting kingdom values amidst the noise of the digital age. Echoing the words displayed at the gathering, “Communicators today are called to nurture hope, speak truth with integrity, and use media as a tool for the common good… Let us work together to build a culture of communication that serves the greater good.” – Pope Leo XIV

The celebration will be remembered as a landmark event in the Archdiocese of Bhopal. It honoured the journey of Navdeep Communications, acknowledged the challenges of the present, and looked forward with hope to a future where media and technology continue to serve both the Gospel and humanity.
