Meghnagar, October 16, 2025: The faithful of St. Arnold’s Church in the Diocese of Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh, joyfully celebrated their Jubilee , Small Christian Communities (SCC) Day, and the 150th Anniversary of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) on October 12.
The day began with the Eucharistic Celebration, presided over by Rev. Fr. Maria Paulraj, SVD, Provincial Superior of the Central India Province. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Sylvester Meda, Secretary of the Diocese of Jhabua; Fr. Joman James, Parish Priest of St. Arnold’s Church; and other esteemed clergy. The liturgy set a tone of reverence and gratitude, drawing the congregation into a shared spiritual experience.
In his inspiring homily, Fr. Paulraj urged the faithful to nurture hearts filled with gratitude, stating, “Be grateful for what you have and thank God for His grace.” His words resonated deeply, motivating attendees to embody God’s love in their daily lives as active witnesses to the faith.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the parish community gathered for a lively cultural evening, meticulously organised by the Small Christian Communities (SCC). These grassroots groups, formed to foster fellowship, prayer, and service within the parish, showcased their unity and diversity through a series of meaningful and colourful performances.
The SCCs, which bring together families and individuals for regular spiritual and social engagement, highlighted the Church’s rich tapestry of faith through dance, music, and skits, reflecting the cultural heritage of the region.
The event was graced by Bishop Peter Kharadi of the Catholic Diocese of Jhabua, and other celebrants.
In his addressal, Bishop Peter underscored the importance of unity and love among believers, calling on all to “be one in Christ’s love and to live as pilgrims of hope in today’s world.” His message reinforced the event’s theme of communal strength and spiritual renewal.
This day served as a fitting tribute to 150 years of the Society of the Divine Word’s missionary zeal and service, encapsulating gratitude, unity, and hope for the future.
