Srikakulam Diocese Inspires Youth Through ‘COLOURS’ Mega Fest

Andhra Pradesh, May 19, 2026: Hundreds of young Catholics from across the Diocese of Diocese of Srikakulam came together in a vibrant celebration of faith, fellowship and formation during the Youth Mega Fest 2026 titled “COLOURS,” held at Mariagiri from May 14 to 17.

Around 700 youth representing various parishes participated in the four-day gathering organised under the guidance and blessings of Bishop Rayarala Vijaya Kumar of Srikakulam. The event reflected the diocese’s continuing commitment to nurturing young people spiritually and encouraging them to become active participants in the life and mission of the Church.

Blending prayer, formation and cultural expression, the fest created a dynamic atmosphere where participants deepened their faith while strengthening bonds of unity and friendship within the diocesan community. Prayer sessions, Eucharistic celebrations, adoration, interactive activities and cultural competitions formed integral parts of the programme.

Addressing the gathering, Bishop Rayarala Vijaya Kumar encouraged the youth to recognise their important place in the Church, reminding them that they are “not merely the future of the Church, but its present strength.” Calling them to become courageous witnesses of Christ, he urged them to stand firmly for the Church and serve as role models for youth in other dioceses as well.

The Bishop also highlighted the importance of priestly and religious vocations, inviting young men and women to generously dedicate their lives for the glory of Christ through committed service in the Church.

Reflecting on the significance of the theme “COLOURS,” Msgr. Dusi Devaraj described the youth as the beautiful colours of God’s creation, called to radiate hope and joy in both the Church and society.

Several formation sessions led by priests and lay resource persons focused on faith formation, leadership, virtues, health, values and social responsibility. The sessions aimed at equipping young people to face contemporary challenges with faith, responsibility and confidence.

The successful organisation of the mega fest was widely appreciated by participants and Church leaders alike. Bishop Rayarala Vijaya Kumar expressed gratitude to parish priests for encouraging youth participation and specially commended Fr. Gupta for his dedicated efforts in organising the programme and strengthening the diocesan youth ministry.

Special appreciation was also extended to Sr. Prameela, Sr. Suni and Sr. Divya for accompanying the youth throughout the event. The Bishop further acknowledged the contribution of volunteers and core team members who worked behind the scenes to ensure the smooth conduct of the fest.

Fr. Vijay Reddy was specially thanked for overseeing food and accommodation arrangements for the large number of participants.

Filled with enthusiasm, prayer and community spirit, Youth Mega Fest 2026 – “COLOURS” concluded as a grace-filled experience, inspiring the young people of Srikakulam Diocese to become joyful witnesses of Christ and vibrant signs of hope in society.
