Indore Diocese Opens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Indore, May 19, 2026: Catholic Diocese of Indore inaugurated its Platinum Jubilee celebrations on May 17 with a solemn gathering marked by prayer, thanksgiving and reflection as more than 500 faithful assembled at the Red Church to witness the official opening of the Diocese’s 75th year.

The celebrations commenced with the Holy Rosary led by Bishop Thomas Mathew, followed by the Jubilee Holy Mass celebrated by the Bishop along with other priests.

In his homily, Archbishop Leo Cornelio reflected on the spiritual significance of the Jubilee Year and described the Diocese’s 75-year journey as one filled with “love and blessings.”

He noted that a jubilee is a time for evaluation and reflection, urging the faithful to look back on the transformation that has taken place within the Diocese over the years and to recognize the achievements accomplished through its mission and ministry.

Highlighting the Diocese’s contribution to society, Archbishop Leo Cornelio said the Diocese of Indore has undertaken several welfare initiatives that continue to benefit people through educational institutions, healthcare services and developmental projects aimed at the upliftment of communities.

Through these ministries, he said, the Diocese has rendered significant social service over the decades. He also prayed that God would continue to guide and strengthen the Diocese in carrying forward its mission of service in the years ahead.

Established in 1952, the Diocese of Indore will complete 75 years in 2027. The inauguration of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations marks the beginning of a historic milestone in the life and mission of the Diocese as it journeys forward with renewed faith and commitment.
