Seminary Day Celebrated at St. Joseph’s Regional Seminary, Prayagraj

Prayagraj, October 18, 2025 — St. Joseph’s Regional Seminary, Prayagraj, marked its Seminary Day celebrations with heartfelt joy and gratitude, reflecting the vibrant spirit of faith and fellowship within the formation community.

The celebration began with the solemn Holy Eucharist, presided over by John Carvalho, Bishop of Ajmer, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring homily, Bishop Carvalho urged the seminarians to remain steadfast in their vocation, deepen their relationship with God through prayer and service, and become authentic witnesses of Christ’s love in today’s world. The Eucharistic celebration filled the participants with renewed spiritual fervour and zeal for their priestly formation.

The evening witnessed a cultural programme that brought together priests, religious, and lay faithful from across the city. The event began with a melodious prayer song invoking the presence of the Holy Spirit. Fr. A. Sebastian, Rector of the Seminary, warmly welcomed the guests and presented the Annual Report, which highlighted the institution’s spiritual, academic, and pastoral activities over the past year. His address underscored the seminary’s ongoing commitment to integral formation and community life rooted in Gospel values.

Among the evening’s highlights was a creative tableau that depicted the values of vocation and missionary dedication. A thought-provoking skit titled “KEEL”, based on the life of Joseph of Arimathea, captivated the audience with its portrayal of faith, courage, and humble disciple ship. The performance served as a powerful reminder of serving Christ through faith, trust, and devotion. The programme also featured a graceful dance performance, symbolising joy, unity, and thanksgiving to God.

In his concluding address, Bishop Carvalho commended the seminarians for their discipline, dedication, and enthusiasm. He encouraged them to cultivate a spirit of deep prayer, simplicity, and compassion so that they may grow into shepherds after the heart of Christ. His message deeply inspired all present, reinforcing the seminary’s mission of nurturing future missionary priests for the Church.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Bro. Petrus, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, Rector, staff members, priests, religious, and laity for their presence and support. The evening came to a close with a fellowship meal, fostering bonds of fraternity and joy among all attendees.

The Seminary Day at St. Joseph’s Regional Seminary was truly a moment of grace and thanksgiving, celebrating the beauty of priestly vocation and the commitment of future ministers dedicated to the service of the Church.
