Rome, Italy, Jan 15, 2026 — A significant new cultural and spiritual destination has opened in the heart of Rome with the inauguration of the John Paul II House Museum, dedicated to the life and legacy of Saint John Paul II. The museum officially opened to the public in late December 2025, marking a special moment during Jubilee Year celebrations and offering free admission as a gesture of welcome to all visitors.
The museum is housed within the historic Pontifical Polish College, a site closely linked to Karol Wojtyła’s life before his election as Pope in 1978. It was here that Wojtyła lived and worked during his Roman sojourns as Archbishop of Krakow, culminating in the conclave that would change the course of the Catholic Church.
Inside, visitors can walk through the Pope’s personal study and bedroom, preserved with original furnishings and artifacts that reflect his daily life and spiritual practices. Exhibits include autographed documents, personal items, and relics that offer an intimate glimpse into the rhythm of the man who became one of the most influential figures of the 20th century.
The opening ceremony drew notable figures from both ecclesial and civic spheres, including Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, longtime personal secretary to John Paul II, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who praised the museum as a “chest of faith, spirituality, and love.” Their presence highlighted the shared effort to preserve and promote John Paul II’s enduring legacy.
Located in Rome and open without charge, the John Paul II House Museum invites pilgrims, students, and tourists alike to deepen their appreciation of the Pope’s spiritual journey and lasting impact on the Church and the world.
