Kochi, June 16, 2026: Youth leaders from dioceses across Kerala gathered in Kochi for the Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM) State Leadership Meet, a significant forum aimed at fostering leadership, collaboration and active participation among young Catholics in the life of the Church and society.
Inaugurating the gathering, T.J. Vinod MLA underscored the growing responsibility of youth leaders in today’s rapidly changing social landscape. He emphasized that effective leadership requires young people to align their initiatives and actions with the aspirations and expectations of the communities they serve.
The State Leadership Meet, organised by KCYM, the official youth organisation of the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC), brought together diocesan youth leaders, directors, animators and representatives from various dioceses. The event served as a platform for leadership formation, networking, dialogue and strategic planning for future youth initiatives.
KCYM State President Shibin Shaji presided over the meeting, while former State President Ebin Kanivayalil attended as the chief guest.
Speakers at the event highlighted the vital role of young people in shaping both ecclesial and social life. They stressed the importance of collective leadership, active participation and a shared commitment to addressing contemporary challenges while promoting Gospel values.
Among those who addressed the gathering were State General Secretary Casey Pooppana, State Director Fr. Ditto Koola, Assistant Director Sr. Norberta CTC, Vice Presidents Agi Maria Joseph and Sam Sunny, and Secretaries Senju Jacob, Joel John Roy and Dhanya Mohanraj.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to empowering young Catholics through leadership development, faith formation and collaborative action. Participants expressed their determination to strengthen youth involvement in the Church’s mission and contribute meaningfully to the welfare of society.
