VATICAN, 20 March, 2025: On Wednesday evening, the Holy See Press Office provided an update on Pope Francis' health:
“The Holy Father's clinical condition is confirmed to be improving. The Holy Father has suspended non-invasive mechanical ventilation and also has less need for high-flow oxygen therapy. Motor and respiratory physiotherapy is continuing to make progress.”
The statement also confirmed that earlier in the day, on the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, the Pope concelebrated Mass.
Doctors have reported that the Pope's lung infection is under control, though not fully resolved. His clinical test results remain within normal ranges, and he continues to be fever-free.
Throughout the day, Pope Francis spent time receiving treatment, praying, and engaging in some work. No decision has yet been made regarding who will preside over the Holy Week liturgies.
Given the stability of the Pope's condition, the next formal update is expected no sooner than next week. However, the Holy See Press Office will provide some general information for journalists on Friday and again on Monday.
