Bangalore, 20 March, 2025 – The Family Bible Proclamation (FBP), an initiative by the Archdiocesan Bible Commission, continues transforming families across the Bangalore Archdiocese. Launched in November 2022 by Archbishop Peter Machado, the programme has reached 28 parishes, with families gathering nightly on Zoom to read the Bible together.
Parishes such as SFS Church (Hebbagudi), Holy Family Church (R.M. Nagar), St. Paul the Hermit Church (Nagenahalli), St.Francis Xavier’s (Chikkakammanahalli), and St. Anthony’s Friary Church (Koramangala) have already completed reading the Bible multiple times, strengthening faith within their communities. More than 20 parishes now read scripture simultaneously each night.
A Special Thanksgiving Celebration
On March 2, 2025, the initiative marked a milestone with a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Anthony’s Friary Church, Hosur Road, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Jeevan Prasad Dhandavathi and Rev. Fr. Prashanth Fernandes. A felicitation ceremony honored parish priests and families who have actively contributed to the program. Children received special gifts, adding to the joyous occasion.
The celebration featured an interactive Bible Literacy Programme, including quizzes, dumb charades, and discussions on scripture, with a Holy Bible awarded to the winning family. The event concluded with a fellowship meal, reinforcing the spirit of community.
Join the Mission
Supported by Archbishop Machado, Auxiliary Bishops Arokiaraj Satis Kumar and Joseph Susainathan, and dedicated parish priests, FBP continues to grow. The Bible Commission invites more parishes to join this faith-building journey, ensuring the Word of God reaches every home.
For participation, parish representatives can connect with the Bible Commission and be part of this transformative mission.
