Fathers' Jubilee at St. Anne Church, Udupi, Celebrates Love, Faith, and Family Bonds

Thottam, 20 March, 2025 – St. Anne Church, Thottam, Udupi, marked Fathers' Day and the Fathers' Jubilee Celebrations on March 19 with a spiritually enriching gathering of around 140 fathers. Organised by the parish’s Family Commission as part of the Jubilee Year 2025, the event included a Thanksgiving Eucharist, a public felicitation, and a dinner get-together.

The solemn Thanksgiving Eucharist was led by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, who, in his homily, reflected on the virtues of St. Joseph, the patron saint of fathers, highlighting three key attributes – Simplicity, Silence, and Spirituality. He emphasised St. Joseph’s humility, obedience, and silent yet crucial role in salvation history.

Addressing the strengths and struggles of modern-day fathers, he further acknowledged their dedication, fidelity, and generosity while pointing out challenges such as cheating, alcoholism, and dominance. He encouraged fathers to take inspiration from St. Joseph, particularly when facing betrayal by children, family conflicts, and loneliness.

Following the Eucharist, a cultural programme featured Dr. Vincent Alva, Principal of Milagres College, Kallianpur, and a father of three, who shared insights on navigating the challenges of fatherhood while being a supportive husband and parent.

A moving segment, "My Daddy, My Hero," featured three young participants sharing heartfelt tributes to their fathers. Additionally, Mrs. Blecilla Crasta delivered an emotional speech titled "My Husband and My Family," expressing gratitude for her husband’s love and sacrifice.

Mr. Harold D’Souza, Family Commission coordinator, and Leslie Arouza, Diocesan and Regional Secretary for the Family Commission, played a vital role in organising the event.

The evening celebrated the love, sacrifice, and strength of fathers, concluding with a memorable dinner that left them feeling appreciated and cherished.
