New Liturgical Hymnal ‘Devacheam Bhurgeanchim Gitam, Volume 15’ Released in Goa

PANAJI, Goa, March 20, 2025 – Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, Bp. Simião Purificação Fernandes, released Devacheam Bhurgeanchim Gitam, Volume 15 at the Archbishop’s Palace, Altinho, on March 19, 2025. The new volume, dedicated to the auxiliary bishop, features tunes for officially approved liturgical hymns used in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman. It introduces new tunes for existing hymns from Gainacho Jhelo, the official hymnal of the Archdiocese, and includes newly composed liturgical hymns.


The release event was attended by esteemed members of the Diocesan Commission for Sacred Music, including Fr. Romeo Monteiro, Chancellor of the Diocese and Director of Western Classical Music at Kala Academy, Panjim; Fr. Joaquim Loiola Pereira, Secretary to Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão; Fr. Noel da Costa, Administrator of the Diocese; Fr. Mathew Rebello, Music Professor at Rachol Seminary; Fr. Rolland Lin Fernandes, Parish Priest at Arambol; Fr. Mario De Souza; Fr. Seby Vaz; and Fr. Simon Mathew D’Cunha, President of the Goa Diocesan Commission for Sacred Music and Chaplain at St. Joaquim Chapel, Borda.


The new volume is expected to enhance liturgical services in the archdiocese with its fresh compositions and refined musical arrangements. It will soon be available for sale at Furtado’s Music (Panjim & Margao), St. Paul’s BYB (Mapusa), and Pedro Fernandes & Co. (Panjim & Margao).
