Jubilee Pilgrimage: Milagris Cathedral Catechism Children Visit Velankanni Shrine, Sindhudurg

Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, 20 March, 2025 – As part of the Jubilee of Catechism Children, Milagris Catholic Pilgrims of Hope undertook a spiritual pilgrimage on March 16 to the revered Shrine of Our Lady of Velankanni in Ajgaon, strengthening their faith through prayer, devotion, and unity. The pilgrimage was attended by 130 Catholic students from Years 4 to 9, along with Fr. Roger, Sr. Kavita, and other catechism teachers, who came together in a spirit of devotion and reflection.

A solemn prayer led by Fr. Richard Saldanha, the Assistant Parish Priest and the pilgrimage organiser, set the spiritual tone for the journey. Pilgrims, carrying banners and self-made placards, walked towards the cross while reciting the Rosary and singing hymns.

Upon reaching Our Lady of Velankanni Shrine, the pilgrims participated in a moving prayer service, invoking the Blessings of the Blessed Mother. Leading a special session, Fr. Richard explained the meaning, significance, and scope of the Jubilee Year, highlighting the symbolism of the Jubilee logo and its call to renewal in faith.

A lively musical session featuring action songs uplifted the spirits of the participants, fostering a sense of unity and joy. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Richard, followed by the Novena to Our Lady of Velankanni.

Fr. Milet D’Souza and Fr. Elias Rodrigues were instrumental in offering unwavering moral support and facilitating the venue. The pilgrimage served as a profoundly moving experience, filling the young participants with hope, joy, peace, and spiritual renewal.
