Kerala Prayer Centre Faces Scrutiny Amid Assault Allegations; Protests Demand Accountability

Pathanamthitta, Kerala, June 22, 2026: A Christian prayer centre in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district has come under intense public scrutiny following allegations of sexual assault involving a minor, prompting protests by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and triggering a police investigation that has already led to the arrest of three individuals.

The controversy centres on the Global Worship Centre in Pathanamthitta, where allegations of abuse and exploitation involving a teenage girl were reported. The claims sparked public outrage and led BJP activists to stage a demonstration outside the prayer facility, demanding swift legal action and accountability from those found responsible.

Police were deployed to the area to maintain law and order as tensions escalated during the protest. Authorities subsequently launched an investigation into the allegations and confirmed that three persons had been arrested in connection with the case. Officials stated that further action would depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.

Protesters maintained that their demonstration was motivated by a desire to ensure justice for the alleged victim and to press for a transparent investigation. BJP leaders argued that allegations involving minors must be addressed with urgency and seriousness, regardless of the institution involved.
