Kantaram Lharam 2025: A Melodious Celebration of the Jubilee Theme at Goa

Aquem, January 30, 2025 – St. Sebastian Parish, Aquem, launched its Jubilee 2025 celebrations with Kantaram Lharam 2025, a Konkani solo and duet singing competition, on January 25. Open to parishioners across Goa, the event embodied the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope,’ celebrating Konkani music and heritage.

The competition featured 38 finalists, each delivering performances that highlighted the richness of Konkani music. The event commenced with the unveiling of the Jubilee Banner by Parish Priest Fr. Agnelo Rodrigues, followed by the Jubilee Hymn sung in English and Konkani by the St. Sebastian Parish Choir, led by Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Josely Rocha.

A key highlight was the felicitation of four dedicated Church employees—Francis Duarte, Agostinha Dias, Mary Baptista, and Inacio Fernandes—who were honored by Fr. Rodrigues for their long-standing service, in line with the Jubilee directives of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman.

In the solo category, Ms. Rishona Gomes (Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, Nuvem) won first place, followed by Pierson Barreto (Regina Martyrum Parish, Assolna) and Pleven Vaz (St. John of the Cross Parish, Sanquelim). The duet category winners were Alroy Fernandes and Ester Pires (Holy Spirit Parish, Margao & Our Lady of Rosary Parish, Navelim), with Ashell Gomes and Reuben Fernandes (Our Lady of Rosary Parish, Navelim) as runners-up.

Project Manager Desmond Gomes extended a vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of Fr. Rodrigues, Fr. Rocha, the organizing committee, sponsors, and participants. The event fostered unity and celebration, leaving attendees eager for next year’s edition.

Coordinated by PPC members and parish associations, Kantaram Lharam 2025 celebrated musical talent while reinforcing the faith and cultural heritage of the Goan Catholic community.
