Gulbarga Diocese Ushers In Jubilee Year With Chinnara Mahotsav 2025

Bhalki, Karnataka, January 29, 2025: The Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) of Gulbarga Diocese inaugurated the Jubilee Year 2025 with Chinnara Mahotsav, a three-day convention held from January 12 to 14 at the Infant Jesus Shrine in Bhalki. The event brought together children, animators, clergy, and families from across the diocese to celebrate faith and community. Through prayers, competitions, spiritual reflections, and cultural activities, the convention reinforced the significance of the Jubilee Year while fostering a spirit of unity and devotion.

A Spirit-Filled Beginning

The convention commenced on January 12 with participants from the Hulsoor zone leading a creative Rosary and the formal inauguration of the function. Fr. Stany Lobo, in his inspiring inaugural address, emphasized the importance of the Jubilee Year and encouraged the children to understand their unique roles in carrying forward the mission of hope.

In the evening, a session of action songs led by Srs. Regina, Jain, Leena, and Daisy was held. This was followed by an engaging session by Fr. Deepak Furtado on vocations to priesthood and religious life. The day concluded with a reflective night prayer.

Spiritual Renewal and Learning

On January 13, the day began with morning prayer and adoration. This was followed by children availing themselves of the Sacrament of Confession. Later, Fr. Maxim, the diocesan secretary of the MCA, conducted a session. Using a creative balloon activity, he explained to the children the idea of life as a pilgrimage, with Jesus as our ultimate destination and the guiding GPS to God.

The highlight of the day was the arrival of Bishop Robert Miranda, who addressed the children on the purpose of the convention. Following a short break, Sr. Margaret, the joint secretary of the Karnataka State MCA, led an engaging session that included action songs and interactive discussions. She posed thought-provoking questions, encouraging the children to identify biblical figures who brought joy to others. Those who answered correctly received small incentives.

Later, a solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Bishop Robert Miranda. The liturgy for the celebration emphasized gratitude, unity, and the significance of the Jubilee Year.

The afternoon saw children competing in Bible Patana, Bible Skits, and Bible Quiz, showcasing their biblical knowledge and creativity. The Humnabad Zone, later, innovatively led the Rosary through a PowerPoint presentation. The day concluded with an Agape meal, followed by more action songs, ensuring a joyous end to the evening.

Grand Conclusion

On the morning of the final day (January 14), children offered 25 roses to the Eucharistic Lord, symbolizing their devotion. This was followed by Fr. Clary D’Souza and Fr. David, who guided the children in prayer. Afterwards, the children participated in a cleaning session, ensuring the venue and their accommodations were left spotless.

The highlight of the day was the Infant Jesus procession, where children from each zone displayed their faith in a well-organized parade. The procession culminated in the church, where Bishop Robert Miranda presided over the mass for the Feast of Infant Jesus. The Bishop’s homily emphasized the importance of the Jubilee Year of hope, family prayer, and fostering a Christ-centered life within homes and communities.

The convention concluded with a closing ceremony, where Fr. Abhishek Moses, MCA diocesan commission secretary, honored Bishop Robert Miranda, Fr. Maxim, Fr. Clary D’Souza, and Fr. Roque D’Souza for their contributions to the convention. Winners of various competitions were recognized, and lay animators were commended for their dedicated service. A fellowship meal brought the event to a joyful close, leaving participants spiritually enriched and motivated to embrace the Jubilee Year with faith and purpose.
