Salesian Priest Teams Up With Mumbai-based Musicians To "Jubilate With Jesus"

In a world yearning for hope and unity, Jubilate Jesus 2025 emerges as a beacon of inspiration. This musical masterpiece, composed to commemorate the Jubilee Year of Hope, is a testament to the power of collaboration, faith, and artistry. Spearheaded by Father Peter Gonsalves, a Salesian priest based in Mumbai, the album is a collection of about 30 songs in two parts. The first volume of the album, consisting of 15 songs, was released during the midnight New Year mass at the Don Bosco Campus in Matunga, Mumbai. A second volume, containing another 15 tracks, is set for release in July.

The album has already reached an international audience, thanks to its release on platforms like YouTube. Father Peter shared that the album's reach had already surpassed the 2000 views mark within two days of its debut. "With the power of social media platforms and ‘influencers’ spreading news across the globe, we’ve been able to reach more people than ever before," he said.

The songs in Jubilate Jesus were performed by a remarkable team of musicians from Mumbai, including the talented Neuman Pinto, a renowned music producer and singer, whose contributions to the project have added an extraordinary depth to the album.

A Serendipitous Collaboration

Neuman’s involvement with Jubilate Jesus 2025 happened as a result of a beautiful serendipitous connection. His wife, Bianca Gomes, a seasoned vocalist, had worked with Father Peter two decades ago.

"Father Peter reached out to Bianca, asking her to sing a song for the album," Neuman recalled. "However, since she was tied up with other commitments, she suggested my name. That’s when Father and I connected, and things just clicked." He sent Neuman a song to work on, and after hearing his take, he was thrilled with the outcome. That set the stage for Neuman to work on more tracks for the album. This collaboration resulted in Neuman lending his creative expertise to four songs on the album, including the powerful theme song, Jesus Christ Is Our Only Hope.

Reflecting on the track, Neuman described it as "a piece that sets the tone for the entire album, getting listeners excited about the Jubilee Year celebrations." Father Peter calls it "the perfect anthem for young people for the Jubilee Year."

An Inspiring Musical Experience

The songs in Jubilate Jesus 2025 reflect a global influence. Apart from melodies and lyrics composed entirely by Father Peter, the album also contains songs by international composers from Italy, Korea, and Brazil. After obtaining their permission, he translated and adapted these songs into English to ensure that they resonated with their audience.

Music with a Purpose

The central theme of Jubilate Jesus 2025 revolves around Jesus Christ’s teachings and their impact on personal and social spirituality. “All my songs in the album are reflections on the ‘liturgy of life.’ There is no dichotomy,” Father Peter explained.

For him, Jubilate Jesus 2025 is a labor of love and gratitude. "This is the second time I’ve done an album to commemorate a jubilee year," he stated. His first album, Jesus is Wonderful, was created for the Jubilee Year 2000.
