Jubilee 2025 Celebrations in Hyderabad to Rekindle Hope in Humanity

Hyderabad, October 18, 2025: The Church is set to mark Jubilee 2025 with the theme “Rekindle Hope in Humanity,” as the faithful across the world prepare to celebrate this significant year of grace on 21–22 October in Hyderabad.

Late Pope Francis had officially declared 2025 as the Jubilee Year in honour of the birth of Jesus Christ. In line with biblical teachings, the Church observes jubilee years as sacred periods of divine grace and renewal, typically held every 25 years. Rooted in Scripture, the concept of the jubilee signifies reconciliation—with God, with one another, and with creation—encouraging peace in both personal lives and the wider world.

In an age marked by war, migration challenges, natural calamities, and growing individualism, the Church seeks to proclaim a message of enduring hope. It affirms that while the Cross represents suffering, the Resurrection stands as the ultimate victory of faith. Suffering is temporary, and divine grace will ultimately triumph over evil. The Church calls believers to remain steadfast in hope throughout their spiritual journey, finding strength and solace amid adversity.

To spread this message within the Telugu region, the Telugu Catholic Bishops’ Council (TCBC), led by Cardinal Poola Anthony, Archbishop of Hyderabad, is organising a major celebration at St John’s Regional Seminary, Ramanthapur. The event aims to remind the faithful that God, who became man and dwelt among us, understands human struggles and continues to deliver humanity from all forms of evil.

The jubilee will also highlight peace, service, sacrifice, and universal brotherhood, inspiring participants to renew their faith and become stronger witnesses of Christ’s teachings in today’s world.

The ecclesiastical province of Hyderabad comprises seven dioceses—Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Kurnool, Kadapa, Adilabad, and Shamshabad. Each diocese will send about 200 delegates, with an estimated 1,500 participants in total, including bishops, priests, religious sisters, and lay faithful.

The two-day celebration will begin on Tuesday, 21 October, in the morning and conclude on 22 October evening. The programme includes liturgical events expressing gratitude to God, prayers for world peace and national prosperity, and reflections on Scripture.

In harmony with the vision of the Universal and Indian Church, the event will also promote inclusivity. Pope Francis emphasised that all believers are pilgrims on earth and that no one should feel excluded. The gathering will foster communion among the faithful, strengthen ecumenical relations, and encourage dialogue with people of other faiths and goodwill.
