India’s Cultural Tapestry Shines at the FABC Congress in Malaysia

Penang, Malaysia, 28 November 2025: India’s cultural showcase emerged as one of the brightest moments of the Great Pilgrimage of Hope at the FABC Congress in Penang. Youth and women from India’s 76-member delegation brought colour, rhythm, and spiritual depth to the gathering with a lively and heartfelt presentation.

Fifteen young performers led the cultural segment with traditional songs and graceful movements that reflected India’s unity and diversity. Their performance drew warm applause from cardinals, bishops, and delegates from across Asia, many of whom described it as one of the most engaging events of the evening.

Mrs. Elizabeth, the Cultural Programme Coordinator, spoke with pride about the presentation. She said India remains a mosaic of traditions held together by faith, family, and a shared cultural soul. She called the performance excellent and deeply moving, thanking the CCBI for bringing such dynamic young talent to the Congress.

A joyful action song, “J is for Jesus, O is for Others, and Y is for You,” became the highlight of the evening. Delegates rose to join the rhythm, filling the hall with singing, clapping, and spontaneous celebration.

Sr. Liz from Malaysia praised the Indian team, noting that they brought colour, warmth, and life to the Congress, calling their presence “a gift to Asia.” Her words echoed the mood in the hall, where many delegates said they felt touched by the joyful energy of the youth.

Several bishops remarked that the programme went beyond entertainment. It offered a living picture of India’s cultural richness and its message of unity amid diversity.

Bishop Simon Kim Ju-young of Chuncheon, South Korea, said India’s cultural expression stood as a reminder that unity in diversity is a lived reality and a message the Church in Asia needs today.
