Bengaluru, November 17, 2025 — The Indian Institute of Spirituality (IIS) celebrated its Institute Day on Sunday, gathering nearly 80 priests, 150 sisters, numerous lay faithful, families, benefactors, and well-wishers for a day centred on the theme “Mountain Still Speaks: Beatitudes in Action.”
The celebration drew its inspiration from the Sermon on the Mount, shaping the prayerful tone of the entire event and inviting participants to reflect on the enduring relevance of the Beatitudes in contemporary life.
The day began with the Eucharistic celebration, presided over and concelebrated by the attending priests. In his homily, Fr. Thomas Kalariaparambil MSFS, Provincial, reflected on the Sermon on the Mount, emphasising how the Beatitudes continue to challenge today’s believers to embody courage, compassion, and integrity. The liturgy, marked by a well-prepared choir and careful organisation, set a devotional atmosphere.
Fr. A. Lawrence, President of St Peter’s Pontifical Institute and chief guest for the evening, offered a message connecting the Beatitudes with the Church’s mission in today’s world, reminding the audience that “the mountain continues to speak.”
The cultural presentation emerged as a highlight of the evening. Postgraduate priests, sisters, and diploma students collaborated to stage a compelling dance drama based on the day’s theme. Using a blend of choreography, narration, and symbolic imagery, the performance depicted real-life struggles including the Pulwama attack and land-related injustices.
The narrative followed a woman enduring profound loss, ultimately finding hope in Christ’s healing presence. The presentation powerfully conveyed that the Beatitudes continue to call humanity toward justice, compassion, and responsible action.
Under the leadership of Fr. Benny G. Koottanal MSFS, Director of IIS, Institute Day 2025 unfolded as a well-organised, meaningful, and spiritually enriching occasion—one in which the message of the Beatitudes came vividly alive.
